PLM Cranes B.V. has many years’ and extensive experience in the area of cranes, not only because we build cranes but also because we have actually operated them. Thanks to our practice-oriented background we were able to make a name for ourselves with a completely new design and are now in a position to offer a range of solid machinery with a working capacity which, in the case of grab cranes, currently ranges between 5 and 60 ton. And further developments are in the pipeline.

Where it all started
During the fifties we began to hire out draglines and derricks which were used specifically in the Delta works. At that time we had some fifty cranes for hire, manufactured by NCK, Priestman and Ruston Bucyrus, amongst others. During the seventies we decided to hive off the hire company and switched to the overhauling, selling and servicing of Priestman cranes. Most of the about 120 Priestman cranes we sold were used on inland vessels. However, at the end of the eighties Priestman ceased its crane production and thus the way was paved for an entirely novel crane concept.

Our years of experience in the world of dredging convinced us that the perfect dredger had not yet been invented. Jan Pulleman, our then company director, decided that the time had come to build a specialized machine, specifically suited to dredging works. That particular crane, a PLM617 on a Priestman carrier, turned out to be a success and was the first in a long series of PLM cranes.

On the European market alone, we have so far sold over two-hundred dredging cranes and derricks and by now companies from all over the world know exactly where to find us.
