The owner of this crane is SMT Ship Management & Transport Ltd, located in Limassol, Cyprus.
Description
SMT is a shipping company which operates in North and South America with (self-unloading) bulk and cement vessels.
Application
The Panamax-mounted PLM 4520 and PLM T450D with PLM gantry are used to discharge HBI or DRI shipped between North and South America.The ship has been equipped with a conveyor belt system. The cranes discharge into a hopper (also built by PLM) which forms part of the gantry. Then the conveyor belt system carries the material some 70 meters away from the ship.
Both PLM cranes together can discharge a 60,000 ton cargo within a mere 24 hours.
Delivery
For this particular project, PLM Cranes B.V. delivered two gantries and two cranes (of which one trolley crane). The cranes were fully assembled on a pontoon in our own factory port and where then loaded in the Port of Rotterdam.
